Senior Programs
FoodWIse programs are free for groups of adults in Waukesha County, where the majority of participants are eligible for FoodShare (Wisconsin QUEST Card), WIC, Wisconsin Works (W2), Free/Reduced Price School Lunch, Head Start, or other similar programs. Programs for Seniors
Eat Smart, Live Strong
Seniors practice incorporating more fruits and vegetables into daily meals and increasing physical activity most days of the week. Topics include saving money on fruits and vegetables, incorporating fruits and vegetables into classic meals, and goal-setting to improve health and well-being. This program is offered as a series of 4-6 lessons or as single lessons.
Seniors Eating Well
Seniors participate in interactive and hands-on activities to learn about balanced meals and snacks incorporating a variety of foods. Topics include: “Great Grain Discoveries,” “All Star Senior Snacks,” “Heart Healthy Meals for 1 or 2,” “Cooking and Seasoning with Herbs,” “Savory Soups,” “Fitness Fun,” “Dietary Fat- Fact or Fiction?” This program is offered as a series of 6 lessons or as single lessons.
StrongBodies with FoodWIse
FoodWIse offers StrongBodies as a strength training and nutrition program. StrongBodies exercises improve strength and slow down bone and muscle loss, and the weekly nutrition topic supports seniors’ overall health. The benefits of strength training include: increased muscle mass, improved bone density, reduced risk for osteoporosis and related fractures, reduced disease risk (diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression, obesity), and improved self-confidence, sleep, and vitality. StrongBodies is offered twice per week for an eight-week series.

Extension Waukesha County is located in the Administration Center of the Waukesha County Courthouse Complex. Enter through the main Courthouse doors. After going through security, take the corridor on the left to the the Administration Center. Take the elevators or stairs to the ground floor and go to room G22.
