Sarah Garcia
FoodWIse Nutrition Educator

Sarah joined FoodWIse (Nutrition Education Program) in late 2022. Sarah works with young learners, teens, seniors, and parents and brings a variety of experiences to her job. She has worked with government funded and multicultural communities utilizing her bilingual skills in Portuguese, served as a paraprofessional in a local school district, and has extensive training in behavioral health changes. Sarah enjoys cooking, traveling, and exercise.  She obtained her undergraduate degree from the North Carolina Wesleyan University and her MS of Nutrition from Meredith College.

Emily Green, BS
FoodWIse Nutrition Educator

Emily joined FoodWIse (Nutrition Education Program) in the summer of 2022. Emily teaches youth in Waukesha elementary and middle schools, adults and seniors at meal programs, and a variety of other FoodWIse programs. Emily engages youth in hands-on food preparation using curricula such as Choose Health Fun Food and Fitness for grades 3-5 and Teen Cuisine for middle and high school. Emily’s educational background comes from Mount Mary University, where she majored in Nutrition & Psychology. Emily received her Bachelor of Science degree from Mount Mary University in May of 2022.

Jill Herz, MS, RD 
FoodWIse Administrator

Jill joined the FoodWIse (Nutrition Education Program) in the fall of 2010. Throughout her time with FoodWIse, she has taught nutrition programs with a variety of audiences, including youth, teens, parents, seniors, and other adult groups. She has helped to implement community-based workgroups/coalitions such as Healthy Shelves and the Waukesha County Nutrition Coalition. She obtained her Dietetic degree from UW-Madison in 2009, graduated from the Mount Mary University Dietetic Internship in 2010, and completed her Master’s in Dietetics from Mount Mary University in 2014.

Lily Izquierdo
Bilingual (Spanish) FoodWIse Nutrition Educator

Lily joined the FoodWIse (Nutrition Education Program) in 2023. Lily works with a variety of audiences including preschool-age youth at Head Start, school-age youth in schools and summer parks programs, adults, and seniors in a variety of settings in both English and Spanish. Lily also focuses on teaching groups of Spanish-speaking parents with Eating Smart & Being Active (ESBA) curriculum.

Paula Schmitt
FoodWIse Nutrition Educator

Paula has been with the FoodWIse (Nutrition Education Program) since 2002. She teaches elementary age youth at Banting, Hawthorne, Hadfield and Lowell Schools, as well as at the La Casa de Esperanza Charter School. During the summer, Paula teaches nutrition to youth in park and recreation programs, and at a youth gardening and nutrition program. In addition to youth, she teaches adults at food pantries and a variety of senior programs. Paula received her Dietetic Technician training at Milwaukee Area Technical College.
