We teach, learn, lead and serve, connecting people with the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and engaging with them in transforming lives and communities.

Extension Waukesha County

Extension is a major outreach effort of the University of Madison, putting university knowledge and research to work in our county. Waukesha County is located in the southeast corner of Wisconsin, and is home to over 410,000 people.

In partnerships with local residents and organizations, UW-Madison, Division of Extension Waukesha County develops innovative educational programs that:

  • Strengthen communities by working with residents, stakeholders and organizations to identify and address unique learning needs that address safety, neighborhood improvement, and community public opinions.
  • Build local leadership by partnering with agencies, businesses, non-profit organizations, and local, state and federal government units.
  • Encourage sustainable and profitable agricultural and horticultural businesses.
  • Provide education on horticulture practices by consumers and the commercial industry (i.e. pesticides, herbicides) in order to protect and enhance our environment.
  • Teach limited-income families, youth and elderly in the areas of nutrition, food safety, physical activity, and food resource management.

Extension educators work together, sharing resources in order to develop and deliver programs that respond to issues identified by our communities.
