Waukesha County 4-H youth and their parents/guardians/favorite adult (no dropoffs for this event) are invited to Project Night on March 24th.
Project Night will be held at the Waukesha County Expo Center Arena:

Session 1: 5:30 – 6:15 PM
Session 2: 6:30 – 7:15 P.M.
We are excited to offer 14 session options at the 3/24 Project Night. Read more about the sessions below, or download the Project Night informational flyer (PDF).

Any approved 4-H member 5-19 years old may sign up for Project Night and there is no cost to attend, except for individual project costs you may select (i.e. specific projects may have a project start up/kit cost, material to make a quilt, a jewelry project you want to buy, start or have help with, or materials you may use outside of this project night).
Reminder: You must be enrolled and signed up to participate in project learning sessions! Project leaders may only have enough supplies or seats available for the # of youth that are signed up.
March 24th Project Night Sessions
Ceramics
This session will introduce participants to ceramics and they will begin their project. This is a 3 session ceramics class. Youth must also be available to attend4/8 and 5/13 sessions to finish their project. $5 suggested donation amount for supplies. Artists must attend BOTH Sessions 1 & 2 each project night, grades 6-13, maximum 6 youth. Ceramics project flyer
Clover Corner
This session will introduce participants to sewing. Youth will work with volunteers to sew facial cloths that will be sold at the Clover Corner at Waukesha County Fair to benefit the 4-H program. Youth are welcome to bring their own sewing machine but all supplies will be provided for youth to learn. Session 2: All ages with parent support
Goats
This session will help youth learn all about the basics of Goat Feeding. Participants do not need to have goats to come learn and engage in hands on fun! Session 1 & 2: All ages
Leathercraft
Youth will make a small leather craft project by turning leather scraps into earrings, pendants, key chains, and/or luggage tags. All basic materials will be provided. By the end of the session, you should have a project suitable to enter in the fair for Jewelrymaking or Leathercraft. Session 1 & 2: 6th-13th grade, maximum 8 youth
Cloverbud Painting
Kids will learn by mixing colors, experimenting with textures, tools, sponges, droppers, sticks, basic brushes and make fun simple landscapes or texture art. Youth should bring an extra shirt or smock to wear for this painting session! Session 1 & 2: K-2nd grade
Crystallography
This is session 2 of 3 (youth must sign up for the session on 5/6 too). Building on the basics, this session focuses on engineering a simple crystal growing chamber using household materials like jars, pipes, or boxes to control humidity and temperature. Participants will then create intricate borax crystal designs by suspending shapes in a borax solution, resulting in stunning, snowflake-like crystal formations. Session 2: 10+ years old
Jewelry
Youth will be taught how to make their own jewelry or can bring their own materials if they need assistance with a project. Youth can bring projects they have started or begin a new one! Session 1: 5th grade+, Advanced Jewelry
New-ish Family Orientation
Are you a new 4-H family? Or maybe you’ve been in 4-H a few years but you have questions about projects, camp, or other 4-H topics? Come chat with James and get those questions answered! Session 1: Ideal for parents but youth always welcome!
Puppetry
Youth will learn about the history of puppets engage in hands on learning to make their own hand puppet. Youth will have the chance to explore puppet theater. Session 1 & 2: All ages
Resin Crafts
Learn how to use UV resin to make special items, such as earrings, pendants, key chains, ornaments or coasters. Feel free to bring any small items you would like to embed in the resin craft (i.e., penny, very small flower). By the end of the session, youth will have a project suitable to enter in the Fair for Jewelrymaking or Crafting. Youth are encouraged to bring their own small paper punches to cut out unique shapes to use within the resin. Session 1 & 2: 6th-13th grade, maximum 8 youth
STEAM
Participants will investigate how music travels through the air by learning about sound waves and discover how vibrations create tunes. In this project, you’ll learn the basics of how sound works, then become a mini-instrument inventor by building your very own kalimba (a cool thumb piano) out of popsicle sticks. Session 1: All ages
Woodworking
Come prepare for Spring! Youth will be learning the required skills to make their own wooden birdhouse. Session 1 & 2: Any age, but parent support & supervision is required!
Photography
Join Troy Freund, of Mike Crivello’s Cameras, to learn more about professional portrait photography. Troy will show samples of his work, from 20+ years of being a professional photographer in Milwaukee, and will work with participants to create portraits of their own! Photographers of all experience levels are welcome! Youth need to have access to a CHARGED camera or phone. Session 1: (K-5th grade) with parent support; Session 2: (6th grade+)
Rocketry
Youth will learn how to assemble model rockets. All rocket building supplies and kits will be available and the cost of this project is $5 per youth. The rocket project will meet at 2 additional project nights in preparation for a launch in Spring 2026. Rocketry Project Flyer Session 2: Age 9+ or 3 grade+
